The team tennis season has ended for Frisco ISD schools, and although no FISD team will win a state championship this year, the playoffs showcased just how good tennis is in the District.
Here's some evidence:
*District 9-5A, Frisco ISD's UIL district for most sports, was the only district in 5A Region II to have each of its team tennis playoff representatives advance at least one round. Liberty advanced to the second round, Independence and Wakeland advanced to the third round, and Lebanon Trail, despite not having any seniors yet, advanced five rounds to the 5A Region II final.
*Only four of the eight districts in 5A Region II won a combined four or more playoff matchups. District 14-5A won four, District 15-5A won five and District 11-5A, which includes region champion Highland Park, won eight. The FISD teams combined for NINE victories for District 9-5A.
*The FISD teams in the playoffs only lost to two teams. Wakeland lost to Lebanon Trail in the third round, while Liberty, Independence and Lebanon Trail lost to Highland Park, which has won a team tennis state title in nine of the last 10 years.
Congratulations to all of Frisco ISD's tennis teams for their success this season.
