Frisco ISD volleyball teams from Liberty, Reedy and Wakeland advanced to the area round of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) playoffs this week.
Lebanon Trail, which advanced to the playoffs in its first season as a varsity program, lost to Lovejoy in the first round. The Trail Blazers hung tough in a 25-23, 25-17, 25-19 loss to Lovejoy, the top-ranked 5A team in The Dallas Morning News' area rankings.
Liberty, which is No. 2 in the DMN's 5A rankings, beat Sherman in the first round by a score of 26-24, 25-18, 25-8. Wakeland, which is No. 3 in the rankings, beat Wylie East by a score of 25-18, 25-12, 25-12. And Reedy, which is No. 4 in the Rankings, also won in a sweep, taking down McKinney North 25-13, 25-17, 25-12.
The next playoff matches will be played Thursday:
-- Liberty vs. Carrollton Newman Smith, 5:30 p.m. at Memorial HS
-- Reedy vs. Carrollton R.L. Turner, 7 p.m. at Memorial HS
