The Dallas Mavericks Fall Classic Girls Basketball Tournament will have just about everything that a Frisco ISD fan could want. The inaugural event, which will be Thursday through Saturday, will include every FISD girls basketball team playing in a field loaded with the state’s best teams.
Eleven of the 32 teams in the tournament are ranked in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches State top-25 preseason rankings. Those ranked teams include FISD’s Lone Star (No. 4 in 5A) and Liberty (No. 7 in 5A).
The state’s top-ranked team in 6A, national powerhouse Duncanville, is in the event. So is the state’s top-ranked team in 5A, Amarillo. They’ll be among the teams playing in various FISD high school gyms when competition begins Thursday at 6 p.m.
This tournament is sponsored by the Mavericks and proceeds will go to cover tournament expenses. Employee badges and District passes (or other passes such as TGCA, THSCA, All Sports passes, etc. ) will not be accepted for admission into the games.
On Saturday, championship games and selected others will be played at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco. More details about the tournament, including teams, schedules and venues, can be found at www.mavs.com/fallclassic.
