Frisco ISD baseball and softball teams participated last month in the Strike Out Hunger Food Drive, and the results were fantastic. With the help of FISD student-athletes, 10,771 pounds of nonperishable items were donated to the Frisco Family Services Food Pantry.

For the second straight year, the Liberty High School baseball and softball teams led the FISD contributors in donations for the event, which is led by the Keeper of the Game Foundation and Pastime Training Center. The Liberty teams won a trophy and a party from Durkin’s Pizza.

“Congratulations to Liberty High School for becoming our first back-to-back Strike Out Hunger Food Drive Challenge Champions,” Keeper of The Game Executive Director Bryan Hoctor said. “They took collecting donations to a new level.”

Hoctor said that more than 90 percent of the donations for the fifth annual event came from the FISD teams, and this year’s amount was more than the four prior years combined. The food drive is expected to provide nearly 9,000 meals for those in need in the Frisco community.

Keeper of The Game is a foundation that provides athletes with disabilities and special needs unique baseball experiences that foster their love of baseball. It also leads several community service projects each year.
