With winter sports seasons into the playoffs and most spring seasons underway, we’ve hit one of the busiest stretches of the FISD sports year. At the forefront this weekend are swimmers who will be seeking state titles in Austin and wrestlers who will be seeking regional titles at Wakeland High School.
Frisco ISD swimmers will be competing in the UIL state meet at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of UT-Austin. The 5A swimming and diving preliminaries will start at 5:30 p.m. Friday, and the finals will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

A year ago, FISD continued a long streak of having at least three of its swimming and diving teams, including boys and girls, finish in the top 10 in state. At the 2018 meet, the Frisco High School girls finished fifth, the Liberty High School boys finished seventh and the Frisco High School boys were 10th.
Approximately 80 Frisco ISD wrestlers will be competing Friday and Saturday at the 5A Region II meet at Wakeland. The competition begins at 9 a.m. Friday and continues through Saturday afternoon.
